After upgrading to this version of Quanta, syntax highlighting fails to automatically initialize for .php script files. Syntax highlighting can be turned on file-by-file through the Tools menu, though this process needs to be repeated every time the program is restarted. When run though the console, Quanta simply states "QFile::open: No file name specified". The system is presently running KDE 3.3.1 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Having never opened a PHP script during the current program session, open one. Actual Results: Error: Unable to open Notice: Since there has been an error parsing the highlighting description, this highlighting will be disabled.
the latest stable quanta is in kde-base/kdewebdev, have you tried that? app-editors/quanta_pre* is more like an experimental branch...
Unfortunately I have no use for the other features that package provides, therefore I don't plan to install it. I don't need any more bloat than I already have :)
Well, you can take a look at this Project: http://kde-metaebuilds.berlios.de/ Keep in mind that it's not already supported by gentoo, so for any report (just to say that it works) use the project's mailing list and not bugzilla.
I look forward to the segregated ebuilds and have been a member of the project's mailing list since it was created, however I'm still somewhat too dubious about replacing my existing KDE packages with the split ebuilds until all of the dependency issues have been resolved. I did not, however, realize that Quanta will be moving into the kdewebdev package in replace of being an independent entity (as noted on Quanta's website). We'll see how the new package compares to the existing one, though I would personally not choose to use either of the packages if I could find an alternative that met the same requirements.
Well, the php highlighting is fixed in a later release of quanta. Your choice of how to get it is up to you.
