After (qt?) update in the last days, the qt-creator is not able to create a new project (Qt Quick Application - Empty), because no any kit (like "Desktop") is available in kit-selection.
This problem is visible with current stable (4.6.2), but looks working fine with testing version 4.8.2.

You should be able to manually add a kit. In any case, I plan to stabilize 4.8.2 in the coming days.
