Description Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-24 08:42:40 UTC
I'm running vmware-workstation-4.5.2.8848-r1. When I boot the 2004.2 LiveCD (either the gentoo-nofb or smp-nofb kernels, the fb kernels make the vmware window 1280x1024 or something), about every other or every third Enter keypress results in the equivelant of 3 Enter keypresses. The host system is running kernel 2.6.5, xorg-x11-6.8.0-r1 and uses the "us" keymap.

I did an install of Gentoo inside VMware. Once I booted into the new install (with kernel 2.6.8 and the "us" keymap), the problem went away. All of this is occuring at the console, BTW.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Press the Enter key

Actual Results:
It acts like you pressed the Enter key 3 or 4 times.

Expected Results:
Acted like I pressed the Enter key once.

BTW, this was with the 2004.2 minimal x86 LiveCD. I'm downloading the 2004.2 universal x86 LiveCD now to see if it has the same problem.

The universal 2004.2 x86 LiveCD does NOT have this problem.

You do realize that there's absolutely nothing I can really do about this since vmware is a closed application, right?

Oh yeah... and I'm not only the livecd@ guy, but also vmware maintainer... heh

I was just letting you guys know just in case there was a known workaround for the issue.
