Gnome 2.8.1 is out. I've already bumped a few ebuilds locally on my amd64. Seems sane, no major breakage, and I've seen serious issues go away (i.e. a bug similar to bug #68599 vanishes). ~amd64 may be appropriate. thank you for the tip
yep, we know about 2.8.1, i have a set of ebuilds too for it, but we're working on stablising 2.8.0 before introducing 2.8.1
fun part is, it is not even officially released! somebody must've misread some blog somewhere or something. Anyway, long story short, it is a hell of a delight to me to for once invalidate one of these 'hey where are our ebuilds the second a release comes out?' beg-bugs. Thank you all for your cooperation & please be patient next time or do something to really help out in a useful way and squash bugs or something.
Cute. They put up release tarballs, but don't yet release it :) Actually I was poking the gnome mirrors and hadn't encountered any packages that were still <2.8.1, so I thought it was out; I don't really watch news or blogs. I only poked about 8 or 9 folders on the mirror though; there's like 50 or some odd number that's bigger than my screen. Ah well, sorry bout that then :) Hopefully it'll be out soon, and work better than 2.8.0
if you have real reproducable problems with 2.8.0, you should file bugs for those. Expecting that new releases will magically fix them is wishful thinking, your control-center problem (#68610) is in my opinion not related to you upgrading from 2.8.0->2.8.1 .
