Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86 emerge dspam
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The emerge fails with a compilation failure - I don't know why. The earlier
version of dspam (3.2_beta1) compiled ok on my system.

Expected Results:
emerge successfully compiles dspam, and installs it on the system.

I did just did an emerge sync, and then emerge metadata before I attempted doing
this - I doubt it's related.

Cannot fix this, since I cannot replicate this. But I'm sending an email to the upstream to check if there is any reason for this.

dspam-3.2x has been giving quite a bit of problems.
Comment 2 Lim Swee Tat (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-25 03:19:20 UTC
Hi,
Any follow up? I'm interested to know if dspam-3.2.0 has fixed this problem. I've yet to post this on the dspam mailing list, but if this problem persists in 3.2.0, I really should post it there since I do not know why this problem occurred.

Regards
Lim Swee Tat
Comment 3 Alexander Gretencord 2004-10-25 04:22:14 UTC
I have to say that I have this same problem on a production debian woody with dspam 3.2.0 although it seems to have to do with the configure options you choose. When just running "./configure --with-storage-driver=libdb4_drv" everything compiles fine, with the configure options the ebuild uses, I still get taht ": undefined reference to `_ds_pref_load'" (I used the same configure options on our debian system)
Comment 4 Lim Swee Tat (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-26 09:15:58 UTC
Hi,
I just noticed that your configure has a "--with-delivery-agent=" setting which gives nothing. Can you try to disable the "--with-delivery-agent=" line?

Comment 5 Lim Swee Tat (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-26 09:19:35 UTC
Try removing the section on :
myconf="${myconf} --with-db4-includes=/usr/include"
myconf="${myconf} --with-db4-libraries=/usr/lib"

And also remove the "--enable-experimental".

Lim Swee Tat
Comment 6 Alexander Gretencord 2004-10-26 09:55:30 UTC
Removing the libdb and experimental configure options does not help (in any combination). Also, the agent variable is probably empty because it is never set anywhere, like it was done in previous versions of teh ebuild (3.0.0). It does also not help to remove (or correctly set) the delivery agent option.
Comment 7 Lim Swee Tat (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-26 19:46:18 UTC
Hi,
So if you reenable the experimental, but disable the "--enable-preferences-extension", does that help? I need you to help me on this, because I can't seem to simulate your problem on my machine. Thanx in advance.
Comment 8 Tuan Van (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-26 20:27:23 UTC
I think dspam is having problem with linking to db4. Could you try with any of the "mysql", "postgres", "sqlite"?
Comment 9 Alexander Gretencord 2004-10-27 01:26:15 UTC
Disabling the pref extension helped! I got a dspam package woohoo :)
Comment 10 Alexander Gretencord 2004-10-27 01:29:29 UTC
Oh I forgot, using mysql instead of db4 works too.
Comment 11 Jonathan Wheeler 2004-10-27 13:06:59 UTC
Hi,

I did send an email on this but it appears to have dissapeared on me.

I'm in the same position as the other folk with this issue. When I use mysql both rc3 and 2 final compile ok, but if I try to use the standard db4 it fails with the errors I first posted.

Thanks,
Jonathan.
Comment 12 Lim Swee Tat (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-28 07:49:37 UTC
Hi,
So is it reasonable that I close this now? I have fixed it in CVS, so that mysql, postgres can have preferences-extensions. Thanx fellas for the heads up. :)

Regards
Lim Swee Tat
Comment 13 Jonathan Wheeler 2004-10-29 20:05:50 UTC
I'm not quite following guys, do we have 2 seperate issues?

I'm not able to compile using db4 support - which doesn't use preference extensions from what I can see.

Jonathan
Comment 14 John Huttley 2004-11-04 19:46:34 UTC
I have the same problem with dspam-3.2.1 trying to use sqlite as a backend.
Comment 15 Lim Swee Tat (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-05 07:49:11 UTC
Hi Jonathan,
I'm not sure what you are talking about in your last post. Are you saying that you still cannot compile even with the latest ebuild which no longer includes the --preferences-extension?

I've just made a modification to remove preferences-extension from sqlite?

Ciao
ST Lim
Comment 16 Jonathan Wheeler 2004-11-06 02:23:00 UTC
Actually I'll have to take that back, 3.2.1 does work correctly for me, even using db4 :)

Good work Lim!

Jonathan.
