i just had a problem with the new xpdf i installed: i updated the rc file and, then xpdf didn't find the helvetica font anymore... emerging  gnu-gs-fonts-std solved the problem, so i think that there should be a dependance between xpd ant that font package...

you only have to upgrade to a recent version of ghostscript, gnu-gs-fonts is then installed automatically
