I noticed something strange was happening when ipv6calc dumped a new file in /etc/apache2.d/ . All my apache config is in /etc/apache2/ .

The ebuild contains --disable-mod_ipv6calc, so there should not even be an apache module built.

I tested configure in the ipv6calc source and found:

./configure
correctly disables build of mod_ipv6calc (the configure help says it's disabled by default)

./configure --enable-mod_ipv6calc
correctly enables mod_ipv6calc build

./configure --disable-mod_ipv6calc
INcorrectly enables mod_ipv6calc build !

on the other hand: where's the apache USE-flag? ;-)

*sigh* it looks like a bug in configure.ac. This happened before and I send a bunch of fixes upstream. It looks like an improper use of AC_ARG_ENABLE() at line 1404 of configure.in. (yeah, configure.in not .ac!) The 3rd parameter of AC_ARG_ENABLE() is supposed to be what to do if no flag is given, NOT what to do if --disable-mod_ipv6calc is used.

A proper fix would involve running autoreconfig which is very annoying. Let me see if I can come up with a simpler fix since I want --disable-mod_ipv6calc unconditionally.
Comment 6 Anthony Basile gentoo-dev 2019-05-31 23:05:09 UTC
Okay this is "fixed" --- in quotes because the configure file still doesn't work, but I've been able to fool it into doing the right thing. I need to make upstream aware of what they're doing wrong in writing their configure.ac file.

Please reopen if there are still more problems with this.

The last commit I see to net-misc/ipv6calc is 27 Apr 2019 when the affected version was added; did your push go through?

I see it was added some hours later; sorry for the noise.

My appologies. It turned out my local clock was off by 5 seconds and so the push was rejected and I didn't notice till hours later.
Comment 10 Anthony Basile gentoo-dev 2019-06-02 10:04:59 UTC
For completeness, I've added the upstream bug report. Hopefully they'll respond.
