This is on a up to date ~amd64 system. 

My use flags for vlc: X a52 alsa aom archive bidi dav1d dbus dts dvbpsi dvd encode faad ffmpeg flac fontconfig gcrypt gme gstreamer jpeg libass libcaca libnotify libsamplerate live lua mad matroska mp3 mpeg musepack ncurses ogg omxil opencv opus png postproc pulseaudio qt5 shout ssl svg taglib theora tremor truetype twolame udev v4l vaapi vorbis vpx wma-fixed x264 x265 xml -altivec -aribsub -bluray -cddb -chromaprint -chromecast -dc1394 -debug -directx -fdk -fluidsynth -gnome-keyring -ieee1394 -jack -kate -libav -libtar -libtiger -linsys -lirc -macosx-notifications -macosx-qtkit -modplug
-mtp -neon -nfs -optimisememory -projectm -rdp -run-as-root -samba -sdl-image -sftp -sid -skins -soxr -speex -srt -test -upnp -vdpau -vnc -wayland -zeroconf -zvbi CPU_FLAGS_X86="mmx sse"

Hi,
probably you have mixed Qt versions installed.
Please check it via
portageq match / 'dev-qt/*'
