It appears that od version 2.0.19 gives different (incorrect) results on binary
files than version 2.0.21. Specifically, the command "od -tf8" does *not* give
consistent output between versions.

um,. what package? od seems to be part of textutils and we only have 2.0.19 in
portage

2.0.19 is part of textutils. Od 2.0.21 is not part of any package (yet).

Call it what you will --- 2.0.19 outputs *incorrect* values. If you don't
consider this a bug, then it's not a bug.

new version is in portage and masked for testing.
