Description Michel Valdrighi 2004-10-19 16:15:21 UTC
Since Linux's pwc/pwcx support has been discontinuated in August, several attempts at maintaining it have spawned.

This is an ebuild for an unofficial pwc module that implements much of pwcx's functionnality thanks to reverse engineering.
The module's source code and information reside there: http://www.saillard.org/pwc/

I would very much like to see this module added to portage. It is equivilent to BOTH the pwc and pwcx modules, and will be the likely source of all further development on support for phillips-based webcams. The antiquated pwcx module currently in portage doesn't seem to work at all (at least not with 2.6).

The setpwc (http://www.vanheusden.com/setpwc/) application would be nice to have as well. It was recently updated (today!) to support the more recent pwc API, so it supports the pan/tilt feature of the logitech quickcam orbit/sphere.

I had no success with this package - modprobe complained about the resulting .ko as "Invalid module format". I have contacted the author for finding the reason. Stay tuned, but don't hold your breath :-)

The problem was between keyboard and chair. In portage with little changes, thanks!
