Description Artoo Detoo 2004-10-18 12:35:51 UTC
About to install gentoo on my new laptop when I by "accident" finds out that my 1,6ghz cpu runs only on 600Mhz even when I compile and it uses 100% cpu.
BIOS is set on "auto" and should change cpu clock on max load.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start computer
2. emerge something
3. Read cat /proc/cpuinfo

using barebone laptop from Aopen with Intel Pentium Mobile 1.6ghz

We do not include any of the CPUfreq items on the LiveCD due to size constraints. If you know you're going to need the MHz, set the BIOS accordingly.

While this is a bug, I don't plan on doing anything about it in the forseeable future. We're already well into 2004.3 and it would be 2005.0 before this feature could be implemented, if we chose to do so. I think we'll end up talking it over and deciding then, but for now, I'm going to WONTFIX this.
