Description Bartosch Pixa (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-02-13 05:39:41 UTC
the apmd_proxy script that comes with apmd 3.0.2 depends on a run-parts binary
that supports the "--arg=foo" option which the current debianutils in gentoo
seem to mis

Not sure if it's related, but when I try to start /etc/init.d/apmd I get the
following:

root@akira init.d # /etc/init.d/apmd start
 * Starting apmd...
An apmd is already running as process 9465:
If it is no longer running, remove /var/run/apmd.pid [ !! ]

And there is no apmd running...A pid file does appear in /var/run .. but
removing it an re-runing /etc/init.d/apmd start just causes another pid file to
appear and the same error (with a different pid)

seems to be a debianutils problem too, this time with start-stop-deamon
removint the pidfile stuff in /etc/init.d/apmd solver the issue for me

are you using a different version of debianutils than the one in portage ?

this is what i get when i try to use the apmd_proxy script

$ /etc/apm/apmd_proxy change power
run-parts: unrecognized option `--arg=change'
Try `run-parts --help' for more information.
