whenever i use kio_fish under konqueror I get the following error-message: ================ An error occurred while loading fish://xxx@yyy.com: fish://xxx@yyy.com ============= kio_fish works fine under Krusader, so it's probably related to konqueror (or the kdebase-ebuild). I already reemerged kdebase (just to be sure). kio_fish worked fine several days ago before I emerged kde3.3.1 (although I'm not sure, if it's related to it). === flo@basil ~ $ emerge info Portage 2.0.51_rc9 (default-linux/x86/2004.2, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20041006-r0, 2.6.8-gentoo-r8 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.8-gentoo-r8 i686 AMD Athlon(TM) XP 2200+ Gentoo Base System version 1.5.3 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r5 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 Binutils: sys-devel/binutils-2.15.92.0.2-r1 Headers: sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1-r1 Libtools: sys-devel/libtool-1.5.2-r5 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -march=athlon-xp" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref/usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/bind /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -march=athlon-xp" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mir.zyrianes.net/gentoo/ ftp://mir.zyrianes.net/gentoo/ http://gentoo.inode.at/ ftp://gentoo.inode.at/source/ http://linux.rz.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/download/gentoo-mirror/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.europe.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow X alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr cgj crypt cups dga directfb divx4linux doc dvd dvdr encode esd f77 fam flac foomaticdb gdbm ggi gif gpm gstreamer gtk2 guile imagemagick imap imlib innodb ipv6 jpeg junit kde libg++ libwww mad matroska mikmod mmx motif mozilla mpeg mysql nas ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png python quicktime readline samba sdl slang speex spell sse ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex theora tiff truetype v4l v4l2 x86 xinerama xml xml2 xmms xprint xv xvid zlib"
works for me, there are known issues with glibc-2.3.4.20041006, please try if downgrading fixes the problem
a reboot and a downgrade later problem disappeared (don't know which one solved it). thx.
Hi, problem is for me still existing with glibc-2.3.4.20041102 and kde-3.3.1 Poly
Lars, >=glibc-2.3.4.20041006 seem to have a number of issues. You're not forced to use a glibc version, which is not marked stable. ;) Mixing libstdc++.so.5/6 seem to make problems (e.g. crashing juk), too.
Hi, Carsten I've no problem with partially unstable glibc as long as the bug seems to be as minor like this. Just wanted to tell that the problem is still persistent with this glibc-version. Poly
