Because compiling mozilla took 4 hours on 2.8 GHz Pentium 4 celeron, I unmerge mozilla, than emerge mozilla-bin..... When I update gnome by emerge -pv gnome.... I see that it want to install mozilla as N ( new ). I have mozilla-bin already. It is same. I try to use USE variable.... not work..... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge unmerge mozilla 2. emerge mozilla-bin 3. wait until there is a new package for gnome 4. emerge -pv gnome Actual Results: portage insist to install mozilla rather seeing I have mozilla-bin already Expected Results: portage should respect my right not to compile mozilla and use mozilla-bin. And when I want to emerge package that use mozilla as dependencies, it should not insist to install mozilla.
Does mozilla-bin come with header files ? I'm not sure we want to support it anyway, after all *-bin packs are a non-gentoo-ish hack imo.
I don't honestly know. But mozilla-bin is 12 mb and mozilla is 29 mb.
well, mozilla and mozilla-bin are two different things. we need the mozilla with headers/pkgconfig and all for gnome.
