Description Michael Huber 2004-10-15 11:32:01 UTC
The latest stable (x86) mplayerplug-in is 0.91, which is very outdated. Please mark one of the later versions stable.

I totally agree that someone should mark a newer version as stable.

and the correct addressee is... ;)

Is anything holding this up? The current version in stable x86 is 0.91, which is very old, newer versions have been out for ages.

Yes, I've checked the mplayer plugin on stable, and it will freezup things if you try and click another link if an embedded video is playing. Thus said, I haven't had time yet to find a version that does work. I just noticed a version bump bug but have yet had the time to test it with finals and a recently found onslaught of mplayer security updates ( 5 or so seperate ones :| ). Thus said, it may take about 2 days ( I have work/christmas shopping too, the fun's not over yet :| ).

Well freezing is better than not working at all (in my opinion). 0.95 didn't work at all with my computer.

One choice would be to mark everything unstable. That way the user would know that there are problems with every version and would have to choose a version by themselves. It's likely that they would choose one of the more recent versions.

Apparently the new mplayer stabilized version for the security bump makes mplayerplug-in play nice. So 2.66 is now in stable. Have a nice day :P.
