Comment 2 Low Kian seong 2002-08-20 07:07:25 UTC
I found that when i try to recompile my previous arts which *has been* compiled
successfully it borkes with the same error .. could it be some dependancy
problems ?? Previous version arts-1.0.2-r1.ebuild
Comment 3 Terje Kvernes 2002-08-20 07:31:32 UTC
same happens here, gcc 3.1.1
USE="mozilla gnome kde tk X pda lm-sensors php imap arts oss"
Comment 4 Andre Richter 2002-08-20 16:20:32 UTC
same happened here, a query in the KDE Bugzilla showed that this was due
mixing of gcc versions (last line of the compiler output, the compiler is gcc
3.1.1 but there are references to gcc 3.1 :
-L/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.1/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.1).
I made a dirty hack by backing up this directory and then making a symlink
from "3.1" to "3.1.1" after which arts compiled just fine.
Comment 5 Low Kian seong 2002-08-22 04:17:33 UTC
The quick and dirty hack works but then my kde now segfaults when i try to play mpg files
Comment 6 Dan Armak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-26 13:46:47 UTC
When we allowed 3.1 systems to upgrade to 3.1.1 without proper code to handle
the existing .la files we were dead wrong. IMHO this should be closed as
suplicate of one of the other bugs about this. In any case everyone is
recommended to upgrade to gentoo 1.4 once it's released (gcc 3.2, profile 1.0)
since the gcc 3.1.x-based versions were never officially "released".
