The GNOME ebuilds (as of 2.8) are now using the USE flag 'eds' to toggle support for evolution-data-server. In the 2.7.x ebuilds, the 'evo' flag was used for this purpose.

GAIM ebuilds should be changed to use the 'eds' USE flag to avoid confusion.

Agreed.  I'm currently on vacation in Florida and will get to this Saturday, assuming it isn't critical.

Fixed in gaim-1.0.1 and gaim-1.0.2
