and you are positive this message 'distcc[18059] ERROR: Connect timeout' has nothing todo with your problem ? I mean, it seems obvious something is not right there and i would start by checking that out if I were you & only then when you are 100% sure it's not that file a report... but thats just what i would do.

This looks like a problem on the user's end. Feel free to re-open if you can show this is a real problem.
