Description Don O 2018-12-06 11:05:23 UTC
When this file is included then some wifi adapters using qca9377 quit working, until the file is manually removed. I have no idea if it is all wifi adapters or just some, but I've seen several reports on gentoo's forum with this problem and I have an acer notebook with the same problem. The firmware-6.bin file tries to load then errors out and is unusable.

My adapter is QCA9377 80211ac 168c:0042

This problem occurs every time this file is included in a release.

Reproducible: Always

This is what shows in dmesg

Comment 1 Don O 2018-12-06 11:11:19 UTC
At the very least, the firmware-6.bin should probably be in a different directory that hw1.0. I see that other QCA* have different directories for different hardware, which I'm thinking is the case here.

Sorry the above dmesg wasn't quite correct, this is with the firmware-6.bin file in place

No, not a problem with the package. The problem is that your card is incompatible with latest WLAN.TF.2.1-00021-QCARMSWP-1 firmware.

You need to report upstream to get this fixed.

Closing as UPSTREAM. This is almost a 5 year old bug. Please let us know if you reported this upstream if it's still an issue for you.
