Description Phil Rigby 2018-11-28 05:04:09 UTC
If I run fs-uae-launcher (front end to an Amiga emulator), I get this:

However, if I run as root, then the program launches and runs normally.

I only see an issue like this with the launcher. fs-uae on its own runs fine under my account. This did work a few months ago, haven't used it for a while and had various things update, so not sure what broke it.

Let me know if more info is needed.

Comment 1 Phil Rigby 2019-02-11 19:39:44 UTC
I don't know if this will help anyone but I just installed SDLMame 0.226 from an overlay - it redid a lot of Python libraries and now fs-uae-launcher works. I know for a fact it was not working before I installed SDLMame.

Leaving this open in case someone does eventually pick it up to see why it needed to be root to run but then SDLMame corrects it...
Comment 2 James Le Cuirot gentoo-dev 2019-04-20 10:18:33 UTC
You may have grabbed this from an overlay because it wasn't in the Gentoo tree until now. The version in the tree is the older stable version and the ebuild is quite different so you probably won't hit this issue.
Comment 3 Phil Rigby 2019-04-22 14:00:37 UTC
Correct, couldn't tell you without checking which overlay it came from.

I'll take a look at the one in the legit tree now, thanks for the update.
