Using KDE 3.3.0 I can reproduce this 100% of the time #kfind and search for ANYTHING and it locks up hard. # killall famd and try again and Kfind works fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. make sure famd is running 2. perform a search of the root (or any directory really) using kfind 3. kfind process locks hard oddly, running find from the Konqueror menu works fine - but from the KDE menu it happens almost immediately (If not, one or two searches will demonstrate this result) OK after 2 weeks of trying I guess this is a known bug by the KDE team - the Redhat team has apparently fixed it but I can't find details. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68220 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77846 http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85802 Here is more details of others with the problem... http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/149142
Closing as UPSTREAM as this is not Gentoo related.
