After altering the ebuilds, tcl/tk 8.4.6-r1 emerge successfully on ppc-macos (Panther 10.3.5) with XCode 1.5 and the X11 developer and user pakages. The symlink install section needs to be changed to reflect the usage of *.dylib, instead of *.so, in the mac version of tcl/tk. Tclsh runs from Terminal.app and the X11 xterm. Tk runs from the X11 xterm.
Didn't you need to turn off collision-protect? Mac OS X 10.3.3 has tcl 8.4.4 and the last time I tried tcl ebuild conflicted with system tcl.
Yes, you need to USE='-collision-protect' emerge tcl which will overwrite the tcl libraries that come from apple; this should not affect any tcl-based scripts in OS X, but may have a negative impact on applications, if any exist, that dynamically link to the tcl library.
Leaving this for ppc-darwin porters. This is not an osx issue.
This depends on bug 67162. Will take a look at it when 67162 has gotten somewhere. Until then, this bug should remain frozen.
