When using USE=-avi, xmms fails to build. It assumes that the file "plover-xmms127.tar.gz" exists in destfiles/ but this file is only retreived when using USE=avi. The python script fails when it doesn't find this file.

please check the -r13 (masked) ebuild.

No reponse from you this :/  Please make sure you're running the latest portage
and try the -r13 (masked) ebuild of xmms with USE="-avi"...
