I'm installing gentoo 2004.2, during the "emerge system" emerging "sys-libs/ncurses-5.4-r5"  i get a lot of messages of error like:
  hda:  dma_intr: status=0x51 {DriveReady SeekComplete Error}   
and similar    and then i get a message   
/user/include/bits/stdio.h:52:  internal compiler error: Bus error
and Portage tell me to submit a bug.

I tried to emerge system three times and i get the same errors.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.try to emerge system
2.emerging sys-libs/ncurses-5.4-r5
3.error described above  (internal compiler error...)
Actual Results:  
i can't install gentoo on my computer

Expected Results:  
emerge system

I had a hp Omnibook XE3 with a pentium 3 processor, 128 mb ram..

seems to me you have hardware issues, to be honest.
