Description Hanno Zysik (geki) 2004-10-06 11:46:18 UTC
What to do to get these two into ~x86?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge binutils-2.15.92.0.2 gcc-3.4.2-r2 glibc-2.3.4.20041002
2. emerge -e system
3. emerge -e world
Actual Results:
All programs merged and system is still stable.

What to do to persuade you Devs to move these two packages into ~x86? ;)

Expected Results:
Move binutils-2.15.92.0.2 and glibc-2.3.4.20041002 into ~x86.

Comment 2 Travis Tilley (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-06 16:14:36 UTC
no way. the glibc ebuild has a couple of issues that need to be worked out before it gets put into ~arch.

1) group permissions seem to be broken for some
2) libnoversion isnt built, breaking a few binary apps like teamspeak

...and probably a few other things that we just havent noticed yet.

as for binutils, that might actually be a good idea. i havent seen any problems with it so far on amd64, but it hasnt been keyworded for long.
