From the amule changelog for 2.0.0-rc6 * aMule daemon is now functional, but it still need hard testing. Enable it using --enable-amule-daemon. You can control it via any EC app (amulecmd, amuleweb) This thing separates the gui from the core, which means that you can use amule without X, which is great. I think this should be added. Maybe as a useflag?
AFAIK, it works only with wxGTK >=2.5.2, not yet in portage, and is extremely experimental (GUI doesn't compile, so you have to use amuleweb and amulecmd to control the daemon) IMHO a user that want to help the developers testing a new experimental feature should be able to modify an ebuild and put it in his PORTAGE_OVERLAY and a specific USE can wait until developers declares the feature working without major problems.
From what I've heard it works with wxGTK 2.5.1 which is in portage. And I was planning on doing exactly that when the next version is released since the current one has a few other issues according to amule.org
Created attachment 45479 [details] ebuild for emule 2.0.0_rc7 ppc
This feature is implemented in the newer ebuilds which are in portage now (and it works pretty well). I recommend that someone who has the proper rights closes this bug, as the issue has been fixed.
Thanks, closing (fixed in amule >=2.0)
