Hi. I just installed Qt-Creator a few days ago, and encountered a problem during the creation of a new project. The error message says: "Failed to obtain Designer plugin code generation service." In my opinion this message is a bit cryptic, as the first thing I did was to look for the plugin in the 'About plugins' section, only to find out later that this plugin is standard part of Creator and should be compiled with the original source code. You can read about the problem and resolution in detail in the following forum thread: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1085858.html Basically, what I would like to see is to make the 'designer' use flag turned on by default, as it seems a rather important part of Creator and it really does rely on it heavily. Additionally, I couldn't think of a reason why 'webengine' is on by default, but 'designer' is not, especially considering, that 'webengine' pulls in a rather heavy dependency, which one may or may not use in the first place (I think people would normally use a stand-alone browser for viewing docs). As I have said, Creator relies on Designer quite heavily, and in my opinion more so, than it does on webengine. Because of these, I think 'designer' deserves to be on by default, as this will save people from a bit of a bump during the very first minute they start using Creator. Thanks.
USE=designer is on by default in 4.8.0
