When cdrdao runs with root permissions, it is able to use real-time priority scheduling, avoiding many buffer under-runs. I'd like to see a USE flag added to the ebuild so that cdrdao can optionally be installed SUID root. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
some exploits have been released in the past that only worked if you locally set the cdrdao binary suid root, i don't think that would be very safe.
I'm against any installation with suid root permissions by default, regardless with or without useflag. The user should know what he does. Nevertheless I will add some information to the end of installation.
