Comment 1 Tuan Van (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-05 16:14:08 UTC
please try with ccache/distcc disabled and attach `emerge gdbm cyrus-sasl -vp`
Comment 2 Throstur Svanbergsson 2004-10-06 16:02:40 UTC
Actually I tried to re-emerge "normally" (i.e. just an emerge -u world again) and now it worked.. so I guess this bug is invalid
Comment 3 Tuan Van (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-06 16:07:17 UTC
> so I guess this bug is invalid.
closing then
Comment 4 Georgi Georgiev 2004-10-11 12:01:01 UTC
Not sure it is invalid. I got the same message. I guess it was a problem with "-j3" but that's just my guess. I had "distcc" in FEATURES as well.
Comment 5 Harald Leiner 2004-10-15 06:10:41 UTC
I'm not sure it is invalid, too.
Using distcc with MAKEOPTS="-j4" i got the same compile error.
setting it to -j2 => compiled fine (with distcc and ccache enabled)
Comment 6 Tuan Van (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-15 09:01:28 UTC
Please clean ccache, keep the MAKEOPTS and report back.
Comment 7 Benjamin Smee (strerror) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-25 06:20:08 UTC
I am getting this error fairly frequently as well across all the machines I look after (pentium and athlon's). It seems to be related to do with MAKEOPT's, if higher then 2 it has a 50% chance of just breaking with the above error. AFAICT it's not related to ccache.

I just ran into this as well.

then mv -f ".deps/allockey.Tpo" ".deps/allockey.Po"; \
else rm -f ".deps/allockey.Tpo"; exit 1; \

After finding this bug report, I just hit <up arrow> and <Enter> to re-run exactly the same emerge and it worked okay.
