Same issue here, and I'm on x86.

Here's the emerge info output. In case you'd wonder, kernel 2.6.8.1-klak6 is 2.6.8.1-ck9 plus a few quite stable patches.

Comment 2 Giacomo Perale 2004-10-06 02:03:38 UTC
could you check if you have in ./configure output lines like these ones?

checking for msgfmt... /usr/bin/msgfmt
checking for gmsgfmt... /usr/bin/msgfmt
checking for xgettext... /usr/bin/xgettext
checking for msgmerge... /usr/bin/msgmerge
Comment 3 Denis Dupeyron (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-06 11:38:55 UTC
Uh-oh... look at the output:

checking for msgfmt... no
checking for gmsgfmt... /usr/bin/gmsgfmt
checking for xgettext... no
checking for msgmerge... no
found gmsgfmt program is not GNU msgfmt; ignore it
Comment 4 Giacomo Perale 2004-10-06 12:36:12 UTC
ghepeu@KazeNoTani ~ $ qpkg -f /usr/bin/msgfmt
sys-devel/gettext *
ghepeu@KazeNoTani ~ $ etcat -v gettext

        [M~ ] 0.12.1-r1 (0)
        [M~ ] 0.14.1 (0)

do you have gettext installed? I can't understand why does configure script fail...

Comment 5 Marco Squarcina 2004-10-06 13:46:10 UTC
I already had gettext... I re-emerged it and now amule compiles fine
I marked it as fixed
Comment 6 Denis Dupeyron (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-06 15:16:26 UTC
Re-emerging gettext also solved the issue here.
