i fixed most of the grammar stuff ... as for the first few hunks, things have been changed in cvs since you made your patch, so please review cvs and see if your intended changes are still needed thanks
Created attachment 41247 [details, diff] corrects a typo and a few other things Also, there's an inconsistent use of "portage" and "Portage" throughout the document. Furthermore, if the synopsis mentions "-h" it should also mention "-V". But I think it's clearer without "-h", which is mentioned below anyway. It's a summary, no need to mention everything. Also, I think there's no need to mention "--metadata" in the synopsis, as it isn't something one would normally use, "--info" and "--search" seem much more useful to me there.
the --help | -h bit is indicating that you can run `emerge -h sync` and get helpful info about the sync command --metadata is put alongside --sync because they both deal with cache rebuilding ... but you're right, it is probably better with --info | --search since those are common commands ... added that to cvs
SpanKY wrote: > the --help | -h bit is indicating that you can run `emerge -h sync` What I meant was that the "| -h" part is unneeded, as this abbreviation is mentioned below. It's enough to indicate `emerge --help sync` and friends. By the way, in portage 2.0.50 `emerge -h world` and `emerge -h info` give zero output. Both should say _something_, IMO. The first could easily produce a text similar to `emerge -h system`, and the other... maybe simply the short help.
ah, true ... removed the -h part the other part is not suitable for this bug ... please open a new one
