Durring test? perl versions perl-5.8.4-r1 perl-5.8.5 both do this.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge perl
2.or emerge -u system
3.or emerge -u world

Actual Results:  
Perl build bombs halting progress.

The fix is to take out or otherwise not add "wins" to /etc/nsswitch.conf 's hosts: line.


this bug has really slowed me down. I now relize and find it disturbing how much I rely on haveing perl.
