Description Brett Mack 2004-10-03 16:30:06 UTC
K3b is extremely slow upon startup, and when you configure programs within k3b - if you hit "search" (for programs), it takes up to 10 minutes.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install K3b 0.11.12-r1 or 0.11.17 on a system (preferably k6-3)
2. Install cdrdao 1.1.8 or greater
3. Launch k3b (problem starts here)
4. Exit k3b
5. Downgrade to cdrdao 1.1.7
6. Launch k3b - problem dissappears
7. Upgrade cdrdao back to 1.1.8 or 1.1.9
8. Launch k3b - problem back
Actual Results:
K3b launches extremely slow while "searching for applications / programs".

Expected Results:
Launche far more quickly. General operation much quicker. Search for
applications much more quickly.

Does it block if you run "cdrdao" or "cdrdao write -h" in a console?
(which is what k3b does).

You can also run "strace k3b" to try to guess where it blocks.

(excuse my english)

in my system happend the same..
not is a k3b's problem.. the problem happend when you execute cdrdao in a console too..

i have not access to the machine that i speak about now.. sorry i can't paste my configuration.

i have tried with cdrdao 1.1.8 and 1.1.9.

Try to run "strace cdrdao" and take a look at the last part of the output
when it blocks ("emerge strace" if you haven't installed it yet).
Comment 4 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-02 08:56:58 UTC
not a kde bug.
Comment 5 Fabio Di Fabio 2005-02-04 15:31:47 UTC
Is a K6 related problem switch to "-march=i586" for this ebuild
