Description Susie Edgeworth 2004-10-03 15:10:07 UTC
I've installed xorg X11 just fine. I'm using it right now. However when running "esync && emerge -uDv world" I get it wanting to download and install XFree. I'm not sure if some specific use flag I've got is Xfree specific and doesn't work for both or why exactly it's wanting xfree. But I think somewhere it's not seeing virtuals perhaps and thinks I don't have X installed. :( I don't know if I just just inject xfree of what. Here are my USE flags below incase anything there might be causing this oddness:

USE="3dnow 3dnowex 3ds acpi aim audiofile calendar caps cdparanoia cdr \
curl curlwrappers dga divx4linux dv dvb dvd dvdread escreen ev6 exif \
extensions faac faad fam fbcon fbdev ffmpeg flac fmod freetype fs gd \
glade gs gtkhtml i8x0 icq imagemagick java javascript jikes joystick \
jp2 lcms libcaca live lzo lzw lzw-tiff maildir mbox mime mmx mmx2 mng \
moznocompose moznoirc moznomail mozp3p mozsvg msn nodroproot nomac \
offensive openal operanom2 oscar parse-clocks pcre pda posix rtc sasl \
scanner sdk sndfile sockets speedo sse sse2 svg tiff type1 unicode \
usb v4l v4l2 wmf wxwindows xchatdccserver xface xine xpm xvid xvmc \
yahoo zvbi -arts -cups -kde -nls -gpm -qt"

My kernel is vanilla 2.4.27 I do have development 2.6.8.1. I'm not using the 2.6.81 simply as for whatever reason I get a hotplug error on input and mouse plugins.(that is despite X running just fine and the system seeming to be fine) Hotplugging has no errors with 2.4.27

Ok I believe I've found the issue. I use lineakd and after running qpkg -q xfree on the list was that. Unmerging the things and doing an emerge -p to stick them back on removing lineakd from the list it stopped wanting to install xfree. I was using lineak 72. On checking I had the old ebuild for 72 that asks for xfree and doesn't list virtuals. So I'll close this bug. Sorry for the false alarm.
