well , it happened to me once , and  made a bug report about the md5 itself , asking to correct it, but well...

If the  generated md5 is wrong , you portage will end up trying all mirrors, downloading the package eatch time , then if n the ebuild the packager provided a link to the original source , then portage will download the source from there again and again , untill the server ban you.

not that mutch a prob if you are behind your comp , bigger one if you emerge before going to work and come back 8 hours later or after 3 days of vacations

Expected Results:  
perhaps give up after 5 downloads from a source or so, perhpas automaticaly send
an error..

as fas as i can tell, there exists no solution to this ...
