Recently, the lesspipe.sh script shipped inside /usr/portage started rendering HTML automatically, if links or similar is installed. I'd argue the point that this, whilst being a cool feature, is not the proper (default-)behaviour for a text pager, since it fundamentally alters what is contained in the file. It also has security implications since it runs an HTML layout engine over potentially untrusted files.
