Description Markus Rothe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-02 02:12:47 UTC
Hi,

I just tried out the 2004.2 beta 6 live cd and my system locks up, when I try to use the network.

This is what I do:

1. start the system using beta 6 live cd
2. modprobe sungem (because it doesn't get loaded by default..)
3. system runs fine untill I do some of the following commands:
   a) dhcpd eth0 (eth0 gets some default settings when doing "modprobe sungem")
   b) ping foo.bar
4. system locks up (= fans begin to speed up, no interaction with keyboard possible. that means Alt+F1 etc.)

beta 5 works fine.

Markus

This appears to be fixed in the 2004.3 beta 1 CD.

Great, thanks for the test Joshua!!

stick a fork in it!
Comment 4 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-25 11:24:20 UTC
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
