Description Marcin Kryczek (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-01 08:35:42 UTC
i've noticed that changes in bmp volume control are in fact changes in the whole pcm channel on soundcard, so it's impossible, to change it's volume without changing volume of all other applications. xmms hasn't such problem.
this bug is about version 0.9.7_rc2-r1 (i haven't checked others. if it works fine in some other version - please let me know)

additionaly - homepage of bmp has moved and now it is: http://www.sosdg.org/~larne/w/Main_Page - it should be changed in ebuild

Are you referring to the OSS or ALSA output plugin?
As under the ALSA plugin, if I select to "use software volume control", it doesnt affect the PCM channel, or the Master.
This is on 0.9.7_rc2-r1 and 0.9.7_rc2-r2.

this is how the software is designed. If you want to change the behavior, try sending a patch upstream or asking one of the upstream developers.
