Is it okay to stabilise latest versions?
Yes, I think we can stabilize the latest version, it had no issues for quite some time. Since it's and EDA, some users rely on a particular version of the software being available. So let's keep the old stable around too (4.0.4) for now. Also should we stabilize 4.0.5-r1 and 4.0.6 for similar reasons? If not should we remove them after 4.0.7 becoming stable?
No, if we stabilise 4.0.7 there is absolutely no reason to keep .5 and .6 around longer (no one is going to use them). I'm confused, are these not simple bugfix updates as the minor number increment is suggesting?
Yes, these are mainly bugfixes, however some people in prod environments like to stick to a particular version (it's mostly an industry requirement). Okay, let's drop .5 and .6, stabilize .7 and keep .4 around for some time.
