Description Philippe Trottier (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-30 00:44:27 UTC
My processor is a 7400, I tried removing all FLAGS, tried with gcc-3.3.3, gcc3.3.4
and it segfaults. Then I tried 1.1.61 it works like a charm.

My suggestion would be to mark 1.1.61 stable for ppc
Comment 1 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-30 01:52:28 UTC
Could you please provide more info: Where does it segfault? During compile or during running the application, also what is the exact error, the output of "emerge info" and so on. Without that information, there is not a lot we can do...

Still I agree that pushing 1.1.61 to ppc is a good idea, but that's up to the ppc-team ;)
Comment 2 Philippe Trottier (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-30 02:18:06 UTC
$ xoosomething
Segfault
$

Starting anything doesn't even show the splash it just explodes and say segfault, the trouble is if you want more informations ill have to recompile the whole thing and that would take 2 days...

tchiwam: if you want to use my G5 for that, it's available. recompiling openoffice takes about 6 hours on it
Comment 4 Philippe Trottier (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-17 15:02:48 UTC
Peter, I don't really see the point at the moment I am overloaded with work and when the time comes I'll be able to compile it even faster than ever. the 1.1.61 is better IMO, so as soon as it is tested people should go for it. For me it doesn't mather since 1.1.61 is now in my overlay...

Comment 5 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-21 14:07:17 UTC
Just want to point out, that 1.1.61 is not anymore in the tree as it had security problems, so please go straight for 1.3.5-r1
Comment 6 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-03 00:29:50 UTC
Ximian also has the problems with STLport that the regular oo.o has.

Ebuild patch to apply the STLport patch

Okay, so it turns out that the patch for OpenOffice applies cleanly here.
Apply the attached patch to the openoffice-ximian-1.3.6.ebuild and put the
STLport-vector.patch from the app-office/openoffice/files/1.1.4/ directory into
app-office/openoffice/files/1.1.3.

Can someone try this and make sure OpenOffice-Ximian builds with this patch on
ppc? OO-x-1.3.6 can be marked stable if this works.

Thanks!

The patch is in CVS. I'll mark the ebuild stable as soon as it compiled trough.
Comment 9 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-07 18:14:40 UTC
I'm okay with the patch going in portage, just be aware that the package still might not build. I haven't tried it at all beyond patching it. Hope it works! :)

merge time: 4 hours, 48 minutes and 1 second.

It built and is now marked stable. :-)
