Description Benoit C 2004-09-29 23:40:47 UTC
Compiled openoffice with java and gnome uses and when I tried to open preferences, Openoffice crashed and X session too. When compiled without Java use, evrything is ok. xorg 6.8.0-r1, gnome 2.8_pre1 and blackdown jdk 1.42_rc1 are used. I tried to change the jvm with ibm 1.4.2 version and same results. No problem with Openoffice.

Hmm, can't reproduce that here, could you try to start xoowriter from a console and see what happens there.

Actually this sounds more like a problem with your graphics card setup, xoo should never be able to crash X on its own. Which card / driver do you use?
Comment 2 Benoit C 2004-09-30 00:53:16 UTC
nvidia card with latest nvidia kernel module 1.0611 ( media-video/nvidia-kernel-1.0.6111-r1 )
Comment 3 Benoit C 2004-09-30 01:14:59 UTC
It seems the problme come when Composite extension is enabled. When I disabled it, everything is ok.
Comment 4 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-30 01:53:49 UTC
You could try to remerge nvidia-glx and see if that helps. Still this is not a OOo-bug so closing this, always remember: The Composite stuff is experimental...
