I don't believe the via-velocity ethernet driver is included with the latest version of Gentoo, so my LiveCD doesn't give me any networking. I believe the driver is called via-velocity.o (not via-rhine). It is included in the latest Fedora, but I don't see it in the latest Gentoo. If there was some documentation that showed how to load up a driver that doesn't come with Gentoo, that would be helpful too, but I couldn't find any. I happen to be running AMD64, but I'd imagine this is also a problem with the x86 flavors. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Try to run gentoo on a machine based on an Abit kv8 pro motherboard 2. 3. Actual Results: Unable to get online. net-setup failed to do anything with eth0 Expected Results: Should have provided and loaded the correct driver for the NIC.

Have you tried the new amd64 test CD? http://tinyurl.com/6okec It should include the proper driver. If not, please REOPEN this bug.
