Currently, everything that eventually depends on Crypt-OpenSSL-Bignum ( eg: amvisd-new, spamassassin ) would become broken if the hppa user chooses a "stable" profile. This is because there is no stable libressl for hppa since 394343ee68adc29e5874e3b4e354a15f232871a4 when the last stable was dropped, and follow up stabilization got reverted ( a81ab0ddbba50e62b413235195b8d5eb4659acb0 1eaedf24f1f38840d545d2fdaf59e8bdb2dd72f6 ) Subsequently, there are several choices that occur: 1. Provide a stable libressl 2. Drop stable recursively on everything that requires libressl ( leading to no stable versions of spamassassin, which will not be happening ) 3. Apply use.stable.mask to USE=libressl on all things that need it ( many modules in dev-perl/ , probably vast numbers of things outside dev-perl/ ) 4. Gut libressl support entirely from dev-perl/* Naturally, options 1 and 3 seem the least offensive. Obviously there is nothing requiring anyone to care about hppa since it dropped to experimental, so the dep graph promises to get worse in future either way :/
ping.
We dropped libressl.
