I get the same message, but I'm surprised because it happens during a reinstall of Kivy version 1.10 (I was cleaning up Python 3.4, preparing for the move to Python 3.6) The last time Kivy 1.10 installed correctly, Cython was in version 0.26.1, and now Cython is in version 0.28.2, this change may be the cause. It seems to have already been reported to the Kivy project, but this ticket is closed with a recommendation to use Cython 0.25.2 https://github.com/kivy/kivy/issues/5228 gcc-config -l [1] x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-6.4.0 * eselect python list Available Python interpreters, in order of preference: [1] python2.7 [2] python3.5 [3] python3.4 [4] python3.6 (fallback) emerge -qpv dev-python/Kivy [ebuild R ] dev-python/Kivy-1.10.0 USE="cairo gstreamer sdl spell -camera -doc -examples -garden {-test}" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 -python3_4* -python3_5" emerge -qpv dev-python/cython [ebuild R ] dev-python/cython-0.28.2 USE="-doc -emacs {-test}" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 python3_5 python3_6 -python3_4"
