Description Raymond Jennings 2018-04-21 04:00:48 UTC
For some reason, as evidenced by bug 645192, my bugzilla permissions are off. I was unable to assign a bug to the foundation and dabbot had to do it for me.

From what I was told at the time it was anomalous, so could someone please fix my bugzilla permissions?
Comment 1 Raymond Jennings 2018-04-21 05:49:54 UTC
Contrast with https://bugs.gentoo.org/597368, where I was able to assign to trustees on my own.

As Elmer Fudd would say..."there's something awfuwwy scwewy going on awound hewe"

My mistake I confused assigning to the foundation product with assigning to the trustees alias.

That said I am still curious if inability to assign to foundation product is intentional or an oversight in this case, and either way an explanation would be appreciated.

Users don't have permission to reassign bugs. You either file them in the correct product, or wait for bug-wranglers to assign it for you.

I'm afraid you misunderstood the purpose I filed this bug for.

My issue is that I couldn't assign bugs to the foundation in the first place.

Could someone comment on why the Foundation is a restricted product that I can't assign bugs to?

[23:59:17] <mgorny> Shentino: you should have said it's product restrictions problem, not your account

Said today in #gentoo-trustees, sounds like a clue.
Comment 6 Raymond Jennings 2018-04-21 07:03:01 UTC
assigned to trustees on advice of veremitz

[23:59:59] <Shentino> mgorny: How was I supposed to know that?
[00:00:08] <Shentino> that's one of the reasons I filed the bug, becuase I didn't know what was going on.
[00:00:51] <veremitz> perhaps you can adjust the title accordingly, and reopen :P
[00:01:06] <Shentino> on it
[00:01:12] <veremitz> and assign to trustees@ :P
[00:02:20] <Shentino> veremitz: done
[00:02:40] <veremitz> the fine craft of bugzilla .. :)

...but you *can* assign them apparently, you just can't select the product.

Exactly, and apologies if I used clumsy wording.

The question is...why can't I select the product in the first place? What's the rationale?

Anyone can now file bugs in the Foundation product.
