Use this fixed alsaequal, https://github.com/dimibyte/gentoo-overlay/tree/master/media-plugins/alsaequal it works unlike default from portage I can confirm it works because I had to find out the hard way.
Thank you for the report. Please explain, what is broken exactly and what did you do to fix it? Did you simply change the SRC_URI, or something different?
It simply does not work you could try for yourself or the link that I added works because it has more patchsets
