The line that reads: (Copy over nameserver information)               # cp /etc/resolv.conf /mnt/gentoo/etc/resolv.conf

should be read as 'cp -L' as forums state.  Did not check other documentation, only URL above.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.go to http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/gentoo-x86-quickinstall.xml look for line (Copy over nameserver information)

Actual Results:  
causes 'env-update; source /etc/profile' to not function properly.  Found
solution  in forums.

why would /etc/resolv.conf be a symlink ?
