https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/issues/7401 There are multiple users claiming that 0.7.7 caused them to lose files. The issue is still being analyzed at upstream. I will likely join the upstream effort to identify the root cause tomorrow. The
I accidentally submitted the bug while adding fearedbliss to the CC list. Anyway, I was going to say that the 0.7.7 packages are being masked, effective immediately.
I have updated to 0.7.7 but I have not updated my file systems recently. Can I safely downgrade to 0.7.6? All my file systems report that they are version 5 (`zfs get version` command).
Andrew, 0.7.7 was a bugfix release, with no pool features being added, so it should be safe to downgrade to 0.7.6. You'll be missing out on the fixes of the 0.7.7 release (you can take a look at what they are here: https://github.com/zfsonlinux/zfs/releases ), but it's safe to say that potential filesystem corruption normally takes precedence over anything else, especially if you're using ZFS on production systems.
I removed 0.7.7 from tree and included 0.7.8 which removes the affected regression in 0.7.7. It is indeed safe to downgrade/upgrade between any 0.7.# version. Resolving.
