Description Richard Svensson 2004-09-24 09:21:29 UTC
I downloaded the source of sim-0.9.3-r2 from SourceForge.net and compiled it, and i got no error just some warnings. I didnt try to do a make install (rather wait for a ebuild =). So if someone who knows more than me about these things maybe should check if its possible to add the "~amd64" keyword. and make an ebuild to it. I would really like to have this app in portage.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Reporter, it would help if you tested this by adding the amd64 keyword to your local ebuild and emerging and testing it. Then you can at least report that it works.
Comment 2 Richard Svensson 2004-09-24 14:27:58 UTC
ah i didnt think about that. Anyway i tried to change the ebuild end emerge it. so far so good. When i should enter my UIN and connect the window just disapperd. The output in the console was this:

23:22:16 [DBG] group Nybro 7984
23:22:16 [DBG] User 103043103
23:22:16 [DBG] User 103043103 [Tezze] id 3029 - group 7984

ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 25857, errno = 0
ICE default IO error handler doing an exit(), pid = 25853, errno = 2

I dont really know what to do now, i guess something went wrong in the compile, i dont have a clue. Maybe someone else can solve this.

I get the same behaviour when I connect to MSN - connect ok - get buddy list (I can see from debug output) die with no error... since this is an enhancement - I'm leaving it for when all the non-enhancement bugs are fixed ;)

Update - my experience was with -r3... which is already ~amd64... ho hum...

Thats what i get. No ICQ on linux for me. :(
Comment 6 Georges Toth 2005-01-16 06:48:28 UTC
I'm new to amd64 (but not to gentoo)
i desperately tried all possible combinations over the last few days, to get sim to work.
but without any success.

i tried the ebuild, and the latest cvs version.
all fail.

i get this as output:
Alarm clock
ERROR: Communication problem with sim, it probably crashed.

when i delete my config for sim, sim starts up with the new-connection dialog.
as soon as i have completed it, sim crashes again with the very same errors.

no sim, no icq for me neither.
would be great to have it working...

The patch did not worked all the time, only partial fix.
