It seems that Aspell 0.60 is out since August 04, but yet no ebuild is being published or worked on, according to gentoo bugs. I'm just curious because the new version will support my language. Is there a special reason why not bump aspell in portage?

cool thanks. i hope this would go into portage soon enough, and that there will be a dictionary for my language too (he - hebrew). i wish i knew how to make an ebuild...
any chance that this would be going into portage anytime soon?
I have taken a look at this but it will take some time to get all the languages up to date with the new aspell version. The aspell dicts update and aspell ebuild update works fine here, it was a big help getting started so thank you Sergey.
why would it take much time for more languages to update the dicts? the dicts' ebuild are really simple. essentialy only renaming them and making sure they get the right url for download according to the new eclass should be enough. this is as long as there's an up to date dict for the language compatible with aspell 0.6.
It will take some (please note the wording) time because there is a lot of aspell languages in portage and I want to make sure that I don't break any of them with this update.
Checking the dicts in portage went surprisingly painless, they all found the new dicts location. Two languages (en and ru) had aspell-0.6 only dictionary updates so they are KEYWORDED along with aspell-0.60 until it has been tested on the other archs.
i checkd briefly and found two more dicts which have aspell6 dicts: ca, cs. other than those i'd like to add a dict for the hebrew language, he, which is available in aspell's dicts repository for aspell6 as well. do you mean that this is going to get into portage?
It is in cvs now. The ca and cs versions are cvs snapshots it seems not real releases and since the old worked fine with aspell-0.60 I didn't make ebuilds for them. About the aspell-he dictionary, please open a seperate bug for this and I'll take care of it when I get time.
